Serving in the role of infection preventionists, students develop an infection prevention training program for the healthcare workers at a local residential facility. Students meet with a representative of the healthcare facility, and work in teams to focus on a specific group of staff or area of the facility. After learning about how infections spread, the role of infection preventionists, Standard Precautions, and Transmission-Based Precautions, teams create educational videos with accompanying print materials and assessments to educate staff on proper safety protocols and interventions to help prevent or stop the spread of communicable infectious diseases.
