Students take on the role of entrepreneurs as they design a culturally-relevant shopping experience for a country or region where the target language is spoken. Students learn about the shopping culture and current trends of the target market in order to plan and develop a department store or shopping center that provides products and services to meet the needs and desires of the community. Teams create detailed plans for their proposed stores – including descriptions, layouts, and directories for each specialty floor or section – then deliver persuasive presentations to a panel of “Shark Tank”-style “venture capitalists” in an investment pitch simulation
