In this project, kindergarten students make connections between abstract numbers and real-world items as they set up and manage a florist’s shop that sells handmade paper flowers. They create a variety of bouquets with different attributes, then play and explore with numbers as they describe, classify, count, sort, add, and compare their bouquets and inventory their team store. Students design a display table for their flower stall, and use relative position words to explain how they will arrange their bouquets. Finally, they role play guiding shoppers to particular items, and then welcome community members to the grand opening of their class flower market! market!
