Every Vote Counts
What is the most equitable way to elect a new member of government?
Project Summary
In this project, students will investigate different voting methods such as ranked choice, approval, plurality, and proportional representation. They will learn about the different uses of these methods including where they may have been used before, in what circumstances, and what were the results. They will then mathematically analyze these methods along with population data in order to determine the most equitable way to elect a new member of government, writing letters to an audience (e.g. local representatives or media) to advocate for changing these methods.
